초록
In this study, we aimed to determine the efficacy of microencapsulated Crataegus pinnatifida (M-CP) using a whey powder to improve colitis in mice with lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute colitis. After the C57BL/6J mice were divided into normal control (CON), negative control (LPS), positive control (DEX), and microencapsulated crude polysaccharide (M-CP) groups, the disease activity index (DAI) was measured. Colon tissue samples were H&E-stained. Compared with pure Crataegus pinnatifida powder, the particle size of microencapsulated M-CP was approximately 370 nm and the polydispersity index (PDI) was reduced by approximately 0.445. This indicated the microencapsulation stability of Crataegus pinnatifida. M-CP reduced the DAI index by 38.3% in the mice with LPS- induced acute colitis. Furthermore, M-CP significantly inhibited about 21.7% the mucosal damage of colon tissue in LPS-induced acute colitis mice. As a result, M-CP might be useful as a therapeutic agent to improve acute colitis.
