Abstract
For proper scalp and hair care, individuals should recognize the damaging agents and address their causes. Our study aims to analyze the relationship between perception of scalp and hair damage and management attitudes. Our research will demonstrate the necessity and importance of scalp and hair care and will suggest improved management strategies. A survey questionnaire was conducted in adult men and women aged 30 years and older, living in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Among a total of 470 questionnaires distributed, 408 copies were used for the final analysis. We analyzed the collected data using SPSS Ver. 28.0. Factors of scalp and hair damage perception, such as perception of daily damage and physiological damage, positively contributed to an engagement with scalp and hair care. Perception of daily damage also positively reinforced the use of professional salons for care and self- care treatment behavior. Factors of scalp and hair damage perception, such as perception of physical or chemical damage and physiological damage positively influenced behavior favoring shampoo management. The results of our survey provide insights into the current state of adult perception and behavior regarding scalp and hair damage. By identifying relationships between damage perception and management behavior, our study offers fundamental information to improve scalp and hair care practices and with suggestions for future research.
