Abstract

Our study analyzed the levels of satisfaction and career choices of cosmetology college students based on their DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness) behavior types. The research method involved a survey of 307 students of the department of beauty. We performed frequency and cross-analysis, one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Our research results showed that the cosmetology college students could be classified into the four DISC behavior types: Type S, Type I, Type C, and Type D. The DISC order of the level of enhanced satisfaction was Type I, Type D, Type S, and Type C. Similarly, the DISC order of career preferences was the same as that for enhanced satisfaction. Among the subgroups of job preference, the order of preference for honor was Type D, Type I, Type S, and Type C. In terms of aptitude and career choice, the order was Type I, Type D, Type S, Type C. With respect to development and preference for stability, the order of DISC behaviors was Type I, Type S, Type C, and Type D. Regarding the impact of enhanced level of satisfaction on career choices among cosmetology college students, it was found that the greater the satisfaction, the higher the preference for honor, aptitude, choice of interest, development, and preference for stability. Our analyses are expected to be used as basic data for career and employment counseling of college students. By adopting a diverse approach to the behavioral patterns of college students majoring in cosmetology, our data could be applied to suggest career paths and job preferences.
