유권자의 지방선거 투표참여 영향요인에 관한 연구: 유권자 효능감의 조절효과를 중심으로

이 연구는 2010년 실시된 제5회 전국지방동시선거에 참여했던 유권자들을 대상으로 유권자들의 투표참여 욕구에 미치는 영향요인을 탐색하고 있다. 이 연구는 유권자들의 효능감을 조절변수로 포함하여 선행연구모형과 차별화된 연구모형을 상정하고 이를 경험적 분석대상으로 설정하였다. 분석결과 시민적 의무감과 선거운동 관심도, 투표 편의성 등이 투표참여 적극성에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 그 중에서 투표 편의성의 영향력이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 유권자 효능감의 조절효과를 분석한 결과에서는 시민적 의무감이 투표참여적극성에 미치는 영향에서 유권자 효능감이 정(+)의 조절효과를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과를 갖고 이 연구는 유권자들의 투표참여를 높이기 위한 이론과 제도적 함의를 논의하고 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to contribute to the consolidation of representative democracy in Korea by finding measures to increase voters participation in public elections through finding and comparing factors that have impacts on voter activeness and thus finding out the causes of voter abstention. In its preliminary analysis of eight extraneous variables’ impact on voter participation, civic responsibility, interest in electoral campaign and voter convenience turned out to have significant impact. Of these three factors, voter convenience turned out to have the most significant impact. In its final analysis on voter self-efficacy, of human factors, civic responsibility and voter self-efficacy turned out to have moderating effects, with positive (+) impact on voter participation. This empirical study result seems to have significance in theorizing voter participation in Korea.
