Resource use in study-abroad programs in L1 and L2 contexts

본 연구는 세 명의 대학생이 단기간 해외 영어연수프로그램에 참여하여 연수 환경에서의 적응과 적응과정에서의 도움자료 활용에 관한 질적 연구이다. 한 학생은 필리핀 소재 대학에서 다른 두 학생은 미국 소재 대학에서 4개월간의 영어연수프로그램에 참여하였으며 연수기간동안 학생들이 매월 작성한 보고서와 귀국 후 한 차례의 직접 인터뷰와 6개월 이후 시행한 이메일 인터뷰 자료를 분석하였다. 필리핀 소재 대학에서의 연수프로그램에 참여한 학생의 경우, 다른 두 참여 학생과는 달리 튜터를 통한 개별학습이 집중적으로 이루어졌으며 미국 소재 대학 연수프로그램에 참여한 학생들의 경우 그룹으로 활동하며 다른 국제학생 및 교환학생들을 위한 여러 활동에 참여함으로써 현지학생들과의 관계형성을 시도하면서 연수환경에 적응했으며, 세 학생의 기대보다는 현지학생들과의 관계형성이 쉽게 이루어지 않았고, 현지학생들을 위한 교과과정을 수강하는데 있어서 제한적이었다. 전반적으로 참여 연수프로그램에 만족하는 경향을 보였고, 프로그램에서 제공하는 수업과 다른 학생들과의 교류이외의 도움자료는 활용하지 않았다. 장기연수프로그램에 관한 후속연구의 필요성 등이 제시되었다.
