초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the pattern of dissolving customary narrative through memory and mourning mediated by language in Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice (2003). In particular, this study explores how the interaction between language and memory extends to the theme of the overthrow of conventional order and the transcendence of dichotomous confrontation, through letters and language activities that lead to past reflections and autonomous decision. Ruhl appreciates personal experiences and emotions, and regains the values of everyday things with the post-feminist gaze of pursuing diversity, while using the voices of women to ask for reflections on loss and sorrow, and to construct discourses of knowledge and truth to dismantle the mythical personality under conventional discourse.
