경기도 지역 이주노동자의 주관적 차별인식과 우울: 차별대응의 조절효과를 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 경기도 지역 이주노동자를 대상으로 주관적 차별인식이 우울에 미치는 부정적 영향을 차별대응이효과적으로 조절하는지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 경기도가족여성연구원의 2018년 「경기도 외국인근로자 지원방안」 자료를 사용하였다. 분석 결과 응답자의 77.2%가 이주노동자라는 이유로 한국생활에서 차별을 경험하는 것으로나타났다. 그리고 응답자들은 ‘일터 및 직장’(53.3%)에서 가장 심한 차별을 받는다고 응답하였다. 이는 식당, 공공장소등 여타의 장소보다 대략 두 배가량 많은 수치이다. 하지만 차별을 받았을 때 다수의 응답자는 참거나 소극적으로 대응(72.4%)을 하고 있다. 차별과 차별대응, 우울 간의 인과적 관계는 다음과 같다. 이주노동자가 느끼는 주관적 차별인식이 높을수록 우울 수준은 부정적으로 증가하였다. 하지만 차별을 받았을 때 대응을 하는 것이 회피하거나 참는 것보다 우울에 미치는 부정적 효과가 완화되었다. 이러한 결과는 한국사회에서 고용주와 권력 불평등 관계에 있는 이주노동자가 부당한 차별을 당했을 때 차별 시정을 요구할 수 있는 역량과 제도적 환경 마련이 시급함을 시사한다. 본 결과를 바탕으로 이주노동자들이 한국사회의 구성원으로서 정당한 권리를 보장받고, 삶의 질을 높이고, 건강한 삶을 향유하기 위해 이주민 역량 강화 및 정책 프로그램 개발이 필요함을 제언하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine whether copying responses moderator effects of discrimination perceptions on depression among migrant workers in Gyeonggi. For this purpose, we used the data of "The Support Plans on migrant workers in Gyeonggi" The analysis that 77.2% of the respondents experienced discrimination because they are migrant workers. And perceived discrimination was the most in 'workplace'(53.3%). However many respondents responded in a negative or passive manner. Second, the more depressed the discrimination in daily life, the more negative the depression level. The negative effects of copying response on depression were suppressed when both negative and positive responses were made. In other words, there is a need for policy measures that migrant workers who are in a power inequality relationship with employers can not be excluded from the society any more and can actively demand correction requests on discrimination. In particular, it was suggested that migrant workers should be provided institutional support and services to ensure social distribution and economic opportunities.
