Semi-automatic Extraction of Technical Vocabulary from Vocational School Textbooks

직업영어에 대한 대부분의 선행연구들은 전문용어들을 추출하기 위하여 전문용어사전이나 특수목적코퍼스를 사용하여 왔다. 그러나 그러한 방법들은 대용량의 자료들을 대상으로 하기 때문에, 상대적으로 크기가 작은 특성화고등학교의 영어교과서를 분석하기에는 적합하지 않았다. 본 논문의 목적은 (i) 전문용어사전이나 특수목적코퍼스를 사용하지 않고도 직업영어교과서에서 전문용어를 반자동으로 추출하는 알고리즘을 개발하고, (ii) 그 알고리즘이 특성화고의 영어교과서를 분석하는데 얼마나 효과적인지를 테스트하는 데 있다. 이 연구에서는 Nation (2001)에 제시된 전문용어에 대한 분류들 중 Category 3과 Category 4에 해당하는 전문용어들을 추출하였다. 이를 위해 전통적인 keyness에 대한 정의가 약간 수정되었으며, 각각의 분야별로 전문용어를 추출하기 위하여 stoplist와 n-gram기법이 사용되었다. 추출된 어휘목록들에서 중요도가 적은 어휘들을 잘라내기 위하여 절대빈도수와 상대빈도수를 기반으로 한 2가지 선정기준이 사용되었다. 이렇게 선정된 기준들을 적용하여 각 분야별로 전문용어들을 추출한 후, precision과 recall을 이용하여 테스트를 한 결과 90%가 넘는 정확도를 얻었다.
