최근 한국 사회에서는 정신건강에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있으며, 정부는 정신건강 증진을 위해 다양한 정책을 추진하고 있다. 특히, 정부는 지역사회 중심의 정신건강 서비스 체계 구축을 위해 노력하고 있다. 이러한 사회적 배경을 고려하면서 본 연구는 지역별 스트레스 요인을 파악하고자 하였다. 스트레스와 관련된 주요 요인으로 흡연율, 음주율, 주관적 건강수준 인지율 등이 있으며, 스트레스와 이들 요인의 관계는 지역별로 다를 수 있다. 이를 고려하여. 2008~2022년 전국 시군구별 228개 기초자치단체로 구성된 패널 자료를 이용해 회귀분석과 그랜저 인과성 검정을 시행하였다. 본 연구는 패널분석을 통해 다음의 결과를 얻는다. 첫째, 흡연율은 스트레스 인지율에 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 주었으며, 흡연율과 스트레스 인지율은 악순환하는 양방향 그랜저 인과관계를 보였다. 둘째, 음주율은 서울을 포함한 6대 광역시 권역에서 스트레스 인지율에 음(-)의 영향을, 전북·전남을 제외한 비광역시 권역에서 양(+)의 영향을 주었으며, 두 변수 사이에 그랜저 인과성은 보이지 않았다. 셋째, 주관적 건강수준 인지율은 스트레스 인지율에 유의한 음(-)의 영향을 주었지만, 두 인지율 간 그랜저 인과성은 보이지 않았다. 본 연구의 결과는 스트레스 요인을 파악하는 정신보건 정책을 채택하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
In recent years, there has been growing interest in mental health in Korean society, and the government has been pursuing various policies to promote mental health. In particular, the government has been making efforts to establish a community-based mental health service system. Considering this social background, this study aimed to identify regional stress factors. The key factors associated with stress include smoking rate, drinking rate, and subjective perception of health status. The relationship between stress and these factors may vary by region. Taking this into consideration, we conducted regression analysis and Granger causality tests using panel data composed of 228 local government units at the city and district level nationwide from 2008 to 2022. Through panel analysis, this study yields the following results. Firstly, the smoking rate has a significant positive (+) impact on stress perception rate, and there is a bidirectional Granger causality between smoking rate and stress perception rate, forming a vicious cycle. Secondly, the drinking rate has a negative (-) impact on stress perception rate in the six major metropolitan areas including Seoul, and a positive (+) impact in non-metropolitan areas excluding Jeonbuk and Jeonnam, but no Granger causality is observed between the two variables. Thirdly, the subjective perception of health status has a significant negative (-) influence on stress perception rate, but no Granger causality is observed between the two perception rates. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the adoption of region-specific mental health policies that identify stress factors.
