The development of smart technology has brought various changes to the English education environment. English teaching and learning models using smart devices have been actively developed. The present study chose a QR code as one of technology Embedded teaching models. The goal of the study is i) if the students’using the smart phone and QR code in reading class can affect their academic achievement, ii) if students can get motivation and be more immersed in class than before and iii) if using QR code in reading class can be a useful teaching and learning model for instructors. The result is as follows. (i) An academic achievement assessment showed that the students in the experiment group improved significantly more than those in the controlled group. ii) The survey demonstrated that using QR code led the students to concentrate more on class, but it did not affect the students’ motivation. iii) All the results of this survey displayed that QR code embedded teaching model can be useful for English reading class.
