Based on the acoustic experiment conducted on three groups of speakers, this study aims to account for strengthening differences of English vowels in four contexts, namely when they are placed in word-initial vs. word-medial position and the stressed vs. unstressed syllable among acoustic parameters such as vowel duration, intensity, and F0. This study mainly suggested four findings: First, the vowel duration observed the effect of syllables to American speakers. Second, intensity produced by American speakers were strengthened. Third, in both Korean groups, positive correlation holds with F0 and intensity in the word initial position. Lastly, American speakers rely on the vowel duration and intensity more than on the F0 values. For Daegu speakers, it is achieved by F0 more than vowel duration. Seoul speakers rely on by dual play of vowel duration and F0.
