Abstract
This study aimed to classify the types of later-life preparation among older adults living alone and to examine how individual and community factors are associated with each type. Using data from 3,423 participants in the 2023 National Survey on ㅉthe Welfare of Older Adults, this study conducted latent class analysis(LCA) and multinomial logistic regression. The analysis identified three distinct types of later-life preparation: “Financially Insecure–Socially Connected,” “WellPrepared–Health-Cautious,”and “Healthy–Socially Disengaged.” Both individual (e.g., gender, age, education, income, employment) and community characteristics (e.g., access to public institutions, leisure facilities, and parks) showed significant associations with each type. Based on these findings, this study offers recommendations for developing personalized later-life preparation strategies and building community-based support systems that reflect the diverse and complex needs of older adults living alone.
