Abstract
This article resists the ethical attitude of Art since the 20th century, which is concentrated under the notion of “unrepresentability", and seeks a path to logical rebuttal. The unrepresentability is a tendency that converges into a renouncement or taboo of the representation in art as an ethical gesture. It comes into practice when the subject of representation faces to tragedy beyond human imagination, such as the Massacre of Jews or the explosion of the Fukushima nuclear power plant. This attitude comes from ethical respect for accidents or existence beyond the threshold of reason, but the irony arises that events and victims are forgotten, common responsibilities are avoided, and tragedy become a myth. In this background, this paper examines the statements of two scholars, Giorgio Agamben and Azuma Hiroki, who argued that ‘nevertheless’ we should keep imagining and thinking about others. It will allow us to reconsider the other and explore the possibility of unimaginable solidarity.
