Abstract
Avison was a medical missionary and was endowed with faith, study, medicine, education, policy, and administration. He began his new post in Korea in 1893 and stayed there till 1935. As president of Korea Medical Missionary Society, he drew the plans for the medical mission policy. He also played a leading role in encouraging collaboration with many medical missionary organizations. After 1916, when Underwood passed away, he took on the responsibility of head teacher at Yeonhee College, which from that time until 1933 graduated 721 students. He competently carried out the academic administration of medical and Christian education until February 16, 1934, at Severance, and September 17, 1934, at Yeonhee College, at which time he resigned his positions. Eventually, he laid the corner stone of Yonsei University.
