Abstract
Frank William Schofield (1889-1970) was an English Canadian who had a pioneer spirit, a sincere Christian who was deeply influenced by Jesus Christ and his father, a Canadian missionary in Korea who was highly qualified for mission work, and a Canadian Korean who loved Koreans who suffered from the Japanese occupation. The purpose of this article is to examine the life and work of Schofield as an immigrant, a Christian, a missionary, and a Korean. It focuses on the period from 1907 when Schofield came to Canada to 1917 when he fulfilled his requirement of the language qualifying examination for missionaries. For this purpose, in addition, it explores the mission policy of the Presbyterian Church in Canada and its socio-religious background.
