배우의 ‘주어진 상황’에 관한 인지과정- 인지심리학적 관점을 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 배우의 ‘주어진 상황’에 관한 인지과정을 인지심리학적 관점에서 이해하는데 있다. 20세기 후반에 새롭게 대두된 인지심리학의 혁명은 배우의 연기를 위한 훈련 방법의 모색과 연기술의 발전에 새로운 패러다임을 촉구하게 하였다. 이러한 이유로, 본고에서는 정서에 관한 인지적 접근에 관한 이론들과 인지와 정서에 관한 뇌 작용의 이해를 통해 배우의 ‘주어진 상황’에 관한 인지과정을 새롭게 제시하였다. ‘주어진 상황’은 배우의 정서 표현에 중요한 역할을 한다. ‘주어진 상황’은 배우가 역할을 창조하는 동안 대하게 되는 모든 요소들로써 대본 분석의 내용인 동시에 인지과정의 대상이 된다. 본고에서는 ‘주어진 상황’에 관한 대본 분석적 접근이 아니라 무대 위에서의 실제적인 활용에 가능성을 두고 논의를 전개하였다. 이를 통해, 배우의 즉각적이고 계획되지 않은 반응을이끌어낼 수 있는 방법을 구안하고, 나아가 연기 교육 방법의 개선에 도움이 되길 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to understand the cognitive process of the actor’s ‘given circumstances’ from a cognitive psychological perspective. The revolution of cognitive psychology in the latter half of the 20th century prompted a new paradigm in training methods for actors’ and the development of acting skills. For this reason, this article proposes a new theory regarding the cognitive process of the actor's 'given circumstances', using the theories of cognitive approach to emotion, and the cognitive and emotional understanding of brain activity. The ‘given circumstances’ plays an important role in the expression of emotions for actors. The ‘given circumstances’ may be all the factors that the actor encounters while creating a role, including the content of analysis of the script while at the same time the target of cognitive process. This article, further examines the possibility of practical applying this theory on the stage in eliciting instinctive and unplanned emotions, and other applications to training actors.
