서사극에 기반한 연극치료의 거리두기 연구

현재 인류는 코로나19로 인해 거리에 대한 관심이 매우 크다. 거리의 개념은 연극과 연극치료에서도 핵심적인 요소다. 연극에서 대표적인 거리두기는 브레히트의 서사극을 들 수 있다. 연극치료 또한 감정의 몰입과 이화 사이에서 적절하고 균형 있는 거리두기를 시도한다. 거리두기와 거리 없애기를 대립의 개념보다는 조화로운 거리 운용을 위한 지렛대로 삼는 연극치료는 균형 있는 감정이입과 감정이화를 통해 치료의 효용성을 극대화한다. 연극치료는 참여자의 상황과 특성에 따라 적절하고 유효한 거리를 제공하면서 변화의 가능성을 찾아내고 치료를 꾀한다. 따라서 연극치료의 관점에서 합리적이고 객관적인 거리를 알기 위해 거리 없애기와 거리두기의 양극단을 이해할 필요가 있다. 본고는 브레히트의 서사극을 참조하여 연극치료에서 거리의 의의를 살펴보고, 이를 실제에 적용한 연극치료 기법을 소개하고자 한다.
Abstract
When a pandemic strikes, we practice physical distancing. The concept of distancing is also a key element in theater and drama therapy. Brecht's epic theater is a representative theory of the distancing in theater. Drama therapy attempts to find a proper and balanced distance between immersive, psychological and physical separation through empathy. Drama therapy, which uses flow and distance as leverage for harmonious distance instead of confrontation, maximizes the effectiveness of treatment through emotional reasoning sometimes through empathy. Drama therapy provides an appropriate and effective distance according to the situation and characteristics of the participants, and seeks to find the possibility of changing and treating them. This study is to examine the meaning of the distance in drama therapy by referring to epic theater, and introduces practical applications of drama therapy technique: exchanging roles, jumping roles, quotation, transposition into the third person, transposition into the past.
