영화 <혐오스런 마쓰코의 일생> (2006)에서 마쓰코의 히스테리적 욕망 -자크 라캉의 히스테리 이론을 중심으로-

Abstract

This study analyzed the hysteric desire of Matsuko, the main character of Memories of Matsuko, from the psychoanalytic perspective of Jacques Lacan. He saw hysteria as an alienated subject that entered the symbolic in the "name of tne father." A subject is alienated by the suppression of paternal functions, and suppression is a product of desire. Hysteria, in particular, is ruled by the discourse and desire of father that is Big Other. Alienated by Big Other, Matsuko desires to be the cause of father's object. As the suppression returns, however, she moves to other men. Here Lacan argued that "there were no sexual relations" between man and woman. Matsuko becomes a cause of Jouissance to men and thus rejects it. Matsuko blocks the social norms herself and focuses only on oral pleasure, thus earning a disgusting modifier. According to Lacan, her oral pleasure is her imaginary identification with her little sister Kumi. Contrary to his view, however, her symbolic identification happens with her father, which is her identification with a penis that she does not have or the signifier of Big Other. In the end, her desire of becoming a cause of object moves toward female Jouissance beyond the principle of pleasure.
