정신보건학 관점에서 예술분야의 창의성과 양극성장애에 대한 고찰 - 예술 직업군을 대상으로

초록

한국의 문화예술은 날이 갈수록 발전하고, 이의 주체인 예술인들은 사회, 경제, 정치 등의 다양한 분야에서 활동하고 있으나 이들의 정신적․심리적 측면에 대한 인지와 지지가 부족하다. 본 연구는 정신보건학적 관점에서 예술분야의 창의성과 양극성장애에 관련된 연구를 살펴봄으로써 예술인의 정신적․심리적 측면의 이해를 돕고 그들의 정신건강의 중요성을 강조하고자 한다. 예술인의 창의성과 양극성장애는 유사한 특징을 공유하고 있다. 선행 연구를 통해 예술 직군의 사람들이 양극성장애와의 연관성이 높고 정신과적 질병에 취약할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 최근 연구는 이러한 특성을 효과적으로 활용하고 조절할 때 창작 수행력을 높일 수 있는 긍정적인 면을 가지고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 하지만 이를 인지하지 못하고 양극성장애의 증상이 악화되는 경우에는 일상생활과 예술활동에 지장을 초래하고 질병으로 이어질 수 있다. 그러므로 예술인 창의성의 특징을 이해하고 정신건강을 관리하는 것이 필수적이다. 나아가 모든 사람이 건강하게 예술을 향유하는 문화적 환경을 조성하기 위해서는 예술인 개인뿐만 아니라 대중, 국가적으로 예술과 정신건강을 궁극적으로 이해하려는 노력이 필요하다.

Abstract

Korean culture and arts continue to advance, and artists are active in various fields. However, there is a lack of understanding and support for their mental aspects. This study aims to help understand and emphasize the importance of mental health for artists by researching artistic creativity and bipolar disorder from a public mental health perspective. People employed in artistic professions are more closely associated with bipolar disorder. Recent research indicates that regulating these characteristics on enhancing creative performance. However, failing to recognize these characteristics and allowing the symptoms of bipolar disorder to worsen can disrupt daily life and artistic activities, leading to illness. Therefore, understanding the characteristics of artists and managing their mental health is essential. Furthermore, to create a cultural environment, efforts are needed not only from individual artists but also from, the public, and the nation to ultimately understand art and mental health.
