Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to devise assessment elements to be considered in designing language teaching tasks appropriate to teaching English in English(TEE) in the elementary school. The review of the relevant literature shows that concrete assessment elements(i.e., national curriculum, cognitive and affective factors, authenticity, interactiveness, learnability and teachability, and integration of four skills) needs to be established in designing language teaching tasks. Seven lesson plans were analysed and seven classroom observations were conducted in order to testify the necessity of the assessment elements. The results revealed that the constraint of "length of single sentence" established in the curriculum was violated, authentic materials were not used in implementing role plays, and cognitive and affective domain factors were not considered in designing tasks. Thus, in this paper, it was suggested that national curriculum, cognitive and affective factors, authenticity, interactiveness, learnability and teachability, and integration of four skills could be customized to the assessment elements for designing language teaching tasks in the elementary school.
