세월호 참사 이후 우리 사회에서는 안전한 삶을 위한 각종 제도 및 환경의 정비와 안전교육의 강화 등에 전력을 다해오고 있으며 그 결과 어느 정도 개선이 이루어지고 있기도 하다. 그러나 여전히 크고 작은 사고들이 빈번하게 일어나고 있고 전반적인 안전 의식과 문화 역시 미흡한 것이 현실이다. 이러 한 와중에서 특히 걱정되는 것은 장차 우리 사회를 짊어지고 나갈 청소년들의 사망 원인 중 자살이 1 위를 차지하고 있고 무면허 운전으로 인한 교통사고 등 위험 행동 정도가 높게 나타나고 있음은 물론 안전한 삶을 살아갈 역량 또한 제대로 길러가지 못하는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이 연구는 바로 이러한 문제에 주목하여 영국왕립재해방지협회(RoSPA)가 제시하고 있는 안전교육 원리에 의거, 청소년 위험 행동에 대한 분석을 기초로 그들을 위한 안전교육의 개선 및 발전을 모색해 보는 데 그 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 이를 위해 구체적으로 이 연구에서는 청소년들의 위험 행동의 발달상 특징을 살펴보고 위 험 행동의 의미와 유형을 검토하였다. 이어 이러한 위험 행동을 가져오는 위험 요인들을 분석하면서 안전교육에 주는 의미를 살펴본 후, 더 나아가 개인적ㆍ가족적ㆍ사회환경적 측면에서의 보호 요인을 검토하고 그것이 주는 시사점에 대한 탐색에까지 나아갔다. 그리고 이어 이러한 분석과 검토를 바탕으 로 청소년 안전교육의 지도 방안의 개선과 발전을 모색해 보았는데 구체적으로 청소년들의 위험 행동 에 대처하는 안전교육과 보호 요인을 강화하는 안전교육 그리고 청소년들에게 필요한 안전교육 내용 의 지도와 그 발달 특성에 적절한 지도 방법의 적용 등에 대해 논의하였다. 그리고 마지막으로 실천과 체험 중심의 안전교육이 매우 강조되고 있는 우리의 현실에서 이제는 안전 이성과 마음의 힘을 기르는 안전교육도 함께 조화롭게 통합적으로 추구될 필요가 있음을 강조하였다.
Abstract
Since the Sewol ferry disaster, we have made every effort to improve various institutions, living environment and safety education, and as a result, some improvements have been made. However, large and small accidents still occur frequently, and the overall safety awareness and culture in people are still insufficient. Of these, the one that becomes particularly worried is that suicide is ranked first among the causes of death of adolescents and the adolescents` ability of living safely has not been fostered firmly. So. inn this study, I payed attention to such problems, and based on the safety education principles presented by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents(RoSPA), I tried to inquire and suggest the improvement and development of safety education for adolescents. The results are as follows. Firstly, in this study, I examined the developmental characteristics of adolescents and inquired the meaning and types of risk behavior. Secondly, I analyzed the risk factors and investigated their implications for safety education. In addition, I examined the protective factors from three viewpoints of individual, family, and social-environmental side and suggested their implications for adolescents safety education. Finally, based on these analyzes and discussions, I looked for improvements and developments of safety education for adolescents and emphasized the harmonious and well-balanced perspective on adolescents safety education through the integrated approach to the cognitive, affective, and behavioral sides of adolescents` safety capacities.
