박목월의 초기 시에 내포된 莊子的 상상력 연구

본고는 박목월의 초기 시에 내포된 장자적 상상력을 분석하여 그 의미를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 작성되었다. 그 결과 매우 유사한 측면이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 즉 장자의 궁극적인 이상이 무위자연에 대한 인식을 통해 현실의 속박에서 일탈하여 인간의 절대 자유에 도달하려는 것이었다면, 박목월의 초기 시에 드러나는 인식 체계도 대체로 이에 비슷한 양상을 보여준다. 특히 ‘내 판타지의 산’을 형상화하여 자아실현의 과정에 이른 것으로 집약되는 박목월의 초기 시에 내포된 자연에 대한 상상력은, 대체로 내심의 문제에 집중하여 초월자의 경지에 도달하려 한 장자의 사유와 등가관계를 이룬다. 다만 장자가 자신의 사유를 주로 우화라는 수단을 빌려 구조적으로 비유하였다면, 박목월은 자신의 정서에 상관된 시적 이미지를 선택하여 우회적으로 표현했다는 차이가 있을 뿐이다. 이러한 박목월의 초기 시의 창작 배경은 일제의 부당하고 부조리한 정치 행위로 인한 암흑의 현실을 초월하는 수단으로서 영혼의 자유에 도달하는 통로를 탐색한 것으로 집약된다. 그가 열망하는 영혼의 자유가 결국 만물이 조화를 이루어 자연의 섭리가 현현되는 것과 동일하다고 할 때, 그것은 인위에서 무위로 전환하는 과정을 통해 가능하다. 이것을 당대의 사회적 배경에 대입하면, 우리 민족이 일제의 억압에서 해방되어 광복된 조국에서 자유를 누리는 것이라 할 수 있다. 박목월은 이러한 민족적 염원을 시적 체계를 통해 상상적으로 구현하였다고 하겠다.
Abstract
This paper was written for the purpose to explore the meaning of the imagination of Chuang-tzu which is connoted in Park Mok-wol’s poem in early stage by analyzing the involved imagination. The result found that two subjects have very similar aspect. The ultimate ideal of Chuang-tzu is deviating from the constraints of actuality to pursue an absolute liberty of human and the nature itself was underlined as a mean of cognition to reach the natural stage. Then, the cognitive system in the early poem of Park Mok-wol also presents a similar pattern to this. The early poem of Park summarized the process of self-realization that is accomplished by embodiment of ‘my mountain of fantasy’. The imagination toward the nature in the early poem has an equivalence relation with Chuang-tzu’s thought that tries to reach the transcendental level by focusing on the inward matters. Chuang-tzu mainly used fables to structurally compare his thoughts. The difference of two is, in case of Park Mok-wol, he chose poetic imagery related with his sentiment to express his thought circuitously. The creative background of Park’s early poem is the Japanese colonial period. The unlawful and irrational political circumstances at the time caused a Dark age in Korea. In order to transcend this grim reality, Park searched the passage that leads to the freedom of soul. If the freedom of soul he’d desired is identical to the manifestation of nature’s providence that is realized by all creations exist in harmony, it can be contrived through the process of the transition from artificialness to nature. When this formula is applied to the social background of the age, the answer will be the freedom of homeland extricated from the Japanese colonial governance. It is that Park Mok-wol implemented the national longing for independence through the poetic system in his imagination.
