Abstract
Western media and academic circle has seen Islam as a uniquereligion, which has led to a conclusion that Islam can not becompatible with democratization and liberalization. This kind of viewhas been prevalent until nowadays. This is necessary to overcomethe existing anti-Islamic paradigm and to analyze the major conceptsin Islam in a more balanced perspective. In this regard, this research attempts to shedding lights on therelationship between state or leader and individual or citizens withinthe framework of the relationship of ruler to ruled in Confucianism. This research tries to analyze the crucial concepts of Islam in theframework of one of the basic ethics of Confucianism. Thus, it aimsat demonstrating that the gap of views between Shia and Sunnitoward the important political concept of state-society relation hasbeen widened not because of religious or sectarian differences butbecause of political manipulation of ruling powers.
