초록
This paper examined the value of expressions in Naide-Kudasaimasu- Desyouka for each situational contextual condition by assuming the speaker as a female, and the listener as [male / female], then classifying the personal relationship of the speaker toward the listener into 5 levels: Honorific higher seniorities, Honorific equal or higher seniorities, Honorific equal seniorities, Honorific equal or lower seniorities, and Honorific lower seniorities. The degree of intimacy was classified into 3 levels: Intimate relationship, Estranged relationship, or Undefined relationship. The results are as follows:Naide-Kudasaimasu-Desyouka is a linked format of Naide-Kudasaimasu, an honorific expression of Naide-Kudasaru with Desyouka, an euphemistic interrogative form, that has a high level of respect to maintain the dignity of the speaker while including politeness toward the listener. Therefore Naide-Kudasaimasu-Desyouka is able to be concluded, not affected by the personal relationship of the speaker toward the listener or degree of intimacy. Naide-Kudasaimasu-Desyouka in an intimate relationship expresses politeness of the speaker toward the listener according to the hierarchical relationship and represents solicitation/request or anxiety/consideration. Moreover, if the listener is an honorific equal or lower seniority, or an honorific lower seniority, with an intimate relationship there is an example of this being used as a joke which counters this politeness. Naide-Kudasaimasu-Desyouka in an estranged relationship is able to maintain the speaker’s dignity since it represents unpleasantness with politeness independent from the hierarchical relationship between the speaker and the listener. However, Naide-Kudasaimasu-Desyouka, under an undefined relationship, expresses respect with politeness independent from the hierarchical relationship between the speaker and the listener.
