Abstract

The article describes the current status of macroeconomic aspects of the labor market in Turkmenistan. Special attention is given to the role of demographic and labor potential of Turkmenistan’s population. The article deals with changes in the structure of employment in Turkmenistan. The authors provides an economic analysis of unemployment and social welfare issues in Turkmenistan. The formation of the labor market during the transition to a market economy is still a complex and multifaceted problem. This study addresses problems of labor and employment, and assesses the factors affecting the level of unemployment and the nature and direction of their interaction. The study also analyzes state regulation and governance of the labor market in today's Turkmenistan. The years of the transition to a market economy in Turkmenistan has resulted in significant institutional change, the emergence of private property, and it has restructured it production base while changing the country's socio-economic system. This transition has economically affected the majority of the population. Turkmenistan has also undergone a transition from a command economy to a market-driven labor market and it has created a commodity market and the stock market which are integral parts of its market economy. The situation in the labor market is one of the indicators of the state of the economy, its stability, and protection of its society. Finally, this study generates a lively picture of the macroeconomic transformation of the labor market in Turkmenistan.
