이 논문은 15세기 최부의 중국 표해기록인 漂海錄을 일본어로 초역한 唐土行程記를 대상으로 거기에 보이는 江戶시대 일본 유학자의 입장을 고찰한 것이다. 번역자인 세이타 탄소우(淸田澹)는 한편으로는 열렬한 공자 숭배 주의자이면서도 다른 한편으로는 일본 중심 주의자이기도 했다. 그 분열된 정체성 속에서 일본사회의 현실을 비판하기보다 옹호하려고 하는 세이타의 입장은 다른 유학자들에게도 공통된 현상이었다고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
The subject of this dissertation is 唐土行程記 which is the abridged translation in Japanese from chinese record, 漂海錄 by Ch'ae Pu, expecially focussing on the attitude of Confucianism of Edo-Japan. The translator, Seita Tanso(淸田澹叟), was a passionate follower of Confucius but on the other hand, was Japanese ethno-centrism. The attitude of Seita toward Japanese society was rather supporting it than criticizing and this attitude is also easily found from other Confucianism of the same ages.
