‘가정소설’을 둘러싼 미디어 복합 ―1900년대를 중심으로

‘가정소설’이라는 1900년 전후에 유행한 소설 장르를 주요한 콘텐츠로 하여 발생한 미디어 믹스는 문학, 신문, 연극 등의 복수의 미디어가 콘텐츠를 공유함으로써 상호의 시장을 서로 연결시키는 상업적인 효과를 낳을 뿐만 아니라, 각각의 영역의 자기성형과 관련된 문화적 의미를 가지고 있었다. 문학에서 그것은 질적으로도 양적으로도 한정되어 있던 소설 독자층을, 중류사회를 중심으로 한 보다 폭넓은 신문독자층에 접속하는 역할을 다하여, 선택된 독자를 향한 예술로서 문학=소설의 자기성형을 꾀하는 기반을 준비했다. 연극에서는 ‘신파’라는 독자적인 연극 장르를 자립시켰고, 그것과의 대항적인 관계에 의하여 근대화의 방향성을 모색하고 있던 ‘가부키(歌舞伎)’에 서양적인 연극과 공통된 보편적인 성격을 찾으려는 시점을 준비하게 된다. 그리고 서양적인 연극이나 일본적인 고전연극과도 다른 특수한 연극 장르로서의 ‘신파’와 깊이 결부되었던 ‘가정소설’은 통속적인 유행소설로서 하위 장르의 위치를 부여받게 된다. 본고는 그와 같은 미디어 복합의 프로세스의 일단을 기술한 것이다.
Abstract
"Katei-shosetu(Home novel)" is a novel genre that became popular in around 1900. It caused the media mix phenomenon to roll literature, the newspaper, and the play. This phenomenon had a cultural meaning to achieve self-construction of not the debt that invented a commercial effect of sharing of media contents and acquiring a wide market but each media. In literature, it played the role to connect the limited reading population of the novel with wider reading population of the newspaper qualitative and quantitatively. That became basic that achieved literature=novel as an art. In the play, it made the chance to make an original play genre "Shinpa" become independent, and for "Kabuki" to grope for the directionality of the modernization to lead in the direction of making to classics. Consequentially, a universal character comes to be admitted in "Kabuki". And, "Katei- shosetu" deeply related to "Shinpa" as a special play genre is subordinated as a popular fashion novel. This thesis described the process of such a media mix.
