중학교 체육수업에서 학생이 인식하는 교사의 배려요인 탐색

초록

본 연구는 중학교 체육수업에서 학생이 인식하는 교사의 배려요인을 탐색하는데 있다. 본 연구 의 목적을 달성하기 위해 중학교 학생 412명이 작성한 교사의 배려에 대한 개방적 진술과 18명이 기 록한 체육수업일기를 통해 귀납적 범주분석을 거쳐 교사의 배려 요인을 살펴보았다. 중학교 체육 수업에서 학생이 인식하는 교사의 배려요인은 3가지 범주로 분류되었으며, 본 연구를 통해 드러난 교사의 배려요인은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수용의 요인으로는 이해와 존중, 소통, 공정함으로 나타났 다. 둘째, 성장의 요인으로는 열정, 칭찬과 격려로 나타났다. 셋째, 자상함의 요인으로는 친절함, 안전감, 따뜻함으로 나타났다. 교사의 배려는 교사와 학생, 학생과 학생 간에 배려 지향적 관계를 형성하는데 도움이 된다. 효과적인 수업이나 좋은 수업, 잘 가르치는 교사가 되기 위해 교수기법이 나 교과 지식을 넓히는 것도 중요하지만 교사-학생의 관계적인 측면, 즉 학생에 대한 교사의 배려 가 선행 되어야 한다. 배려를 하는 교사의 수업에서는 경쟁보다는 협력이 강조되고, 교사와 학생, 학생과 학생 간에도 배려를 실천하는 교육의 장이 마련될 수 있기 때문에 교사의 배려는 교수․학습에서 중요하다. 그래서 교사와 학생들 사이에 배려하는 관계를 형성하는 것은 성공적인 교수․학습의 기초가 된다. 배움은 학생들에게 안전한 학습 환경이 조성되지 않는다면 절대로 발생하지 않는다. 따라서 체육수업이 배움의 공간이 되기 위해서는 물리적 뿐만 아니라 심리적으로 안전한 학습 환경과 교사의 배려가 장려 될 수 있는 수업 문화의 조성이 필요하다.

Abstract

This study explored caring factor of teachers as recognized by students in middle school P.E. classes. For this research, caring factor of teachers was identified through inductive category analysis by getting statements on teacher behavior from 412 students and P.E. class records written by 18 teachers. As a result, caring factor of teachers in middle school P.E. classes is classified in three categories: acceptance, growth and attentive behavior. First, those who displayed a behavior of acceptance showed understanding, respect and fairness. Those in the second category were deemed by students as showing passion and giving compliments and encouragement. Teachers in the third category of attentive behavior were identified as kind, feeling safe and warmth. Considerate behavior of teachers helps teachers and students, and, in turn, spurs students to build care-oriented relationships with each other. Not only is it important to expand teaching techniques and subject knowledge to foster qualified teachers, but also develop considerate behavior of teachers for a solid teacher-student relationship. In classes with considerate teachers, collaboration trumps competition and foster an educational place conducive to students caring about each other. Therefore, considerate behavior of teachers is crucial in teaching, and establishing a care-oriented relationship between teachers and students will form a solid educational foundation. Learning, after all, is impossible unless done in a safe and educational environment friendly toward students. Accordingly, to make P.E. class a true learning opportunity, a culture stressing a physically and psychologically safe environment should be combined with considerate behavior of teachers.
