Abstract

Purpose: Nowadays companies are facing new challenges that need to deal with social and environmental issues in a comprehensive way, and green supply chain management is considered as one of the ways to deal with environmental issues. In this circumstance, the purpose of this study is to find out the effect of organizational culture as a situational factor on the relationship between the level of environmental cooperation and the perceived environmental performance of companies. Composition/Logic: This study is composed of 5 sections. The first introduction section explains the motivation and purpose of the study, and the second section sets the research hypothesis of this paper based on the theoretical discussion through review of existing literature. The third section outlines research data, variables, and methods. And the following section presents the results of the empirical analysis. Finally, through the last section, the implications and limitations of this paper are discussed. Findings: Between January and May 2014, surveys were conducted on import and export companies located in Korea and China. Empirical analysis was performed with 628 observations. As a result, it was found that the higher the level of environmental cooperation between the participants in the supply chain, the higher the perceived environmental performance of the company, and the company's innovation-oriented culture strengthens the positive relationship between them. Originality/Value: This study has taken a closer look at the relationship between environmental cooperation between supply chain participants and the corporate environmental performance, by using the perspective of situation theory. Specifically, When and under which conditions were established, the positive effects of environmental cooperation between supply chain participants on environmental performance could be strengthened, maintained, or changed.
