Abstract

This paper explores the characteristics and problems of modern society and to use it to explain the relevant content in Analects. Freedom, abundance, and enlightenment in modern society are the driving forces of modern society's development, but they have presented new and more serious problems today. So, what countermeasures does Analects suggest in response to today's social reality? From this point of view, this article discusses the meaning of Analects in modern society. First, the gentleman in Confucianism is of great significance in fundamentally preventing indifference and contradictions to human emotions today. Second, mercy means love, that is, caring for others. Third, it believes that happiness has essentially nothing to do with the rich and the poor. In other words, it enables us to correctly reflect on the rich and poor. Fourth, when it comes to social management principles, Analects proposes to downplay competition and pursue community. Symbiosis theory takes the standard of life to the next level. This is a method and countermeasure proposed by Analects to solve many problems in modern society. In other words, we need to analyze the positive and negative effects of freedom and abundance, reinforce the positive ones and suppress the negative ones. In conclusion, this article will make a definitive combination of the meaning of Analects in modern society.
