A Comparative Study of Guan Zhong and Confucius ―Also on the Exchange of Qi Culture and Lu Culture

Both Guan Zhong and Confucius are famous ideologists in Chinese history. The times they lived in were quite near and their cultural backgrounds were similar. They both had political ambition of state-ruling. That determined some common points existed in their ideological systems. But their different political statuses, personal experience and cultivation, cultural tradition received and social condition also determined obvious diversity in their political ideal, view of value and other aspects. Confucius inherited some Guan Zhong`s thought and then certain content of Qi Culture was involved in Confucianism originated by Confucius. Guan Zhong`s influence on Confucius was the result of many factors. The exchange and mixture of Qi culture and Lu culture can be revealed from the study of Guan Zhong`s thought and Confucian thought.
