이 연구는 청년과 음악학 담론 사이의 문제적 관계를 새롭게 인식하기 위해 기획되었다. 클래식음악이 여러 젊은 음악가들의 예술적 성취와 사랑과 갈망을 비롯한 청년의 감정으로부터 자양분을 얻은 장르임에도 불구하고 지금까지 음악학 담론에서 젊음의 문제는 주요 주제로 다루어지지 않았다. 이 연구는 네 개의 사례를 선택하여 음악 작품에 청년이 자리하는 방식을 심층적으로 해석하고 청년 음악가의 초기 양식이 논의되는 방식을 비판적으로 분석한다. 먼저 모차르트의 오페라 《피가로의 결혼》의 케루비노와 슈만의 《시인의 사랑》의 서정적 자아가 음악을 통해 표상되는 과정에서 어떤 유형의 의미가 구성될 수 있는지를 탐구한 다음, 베토벤과 모차르트에 관한 전기적 서술의 전통에서 두 작곡가의 초기 양식에 대한 논의가 어떻게 다르게 구성되었는지를 관찰할 것이다. 이 과정을 통해 음악적 대상과 주체로서의 청년의 역량에 대한 좀 더 명확하고 균형 있는 시각을 획득하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다.
Abstract
This study is designed to shed a new light on the relationship between youth and the discourse of musicology. Despite the fact that classical music is a genre in which young musicians have made significant contributions and which has drawn inspiration from youthful emotion, musicological discourse has not addressed youth as a major topic. By examining four specific cases, this study analyzes the ways in which youth is represented in music and the discourse of early style. It explores the types of meanings that can be constructed and conveyed in the musical representations of Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and the lyrical self in Schumann’s Dichterliebe. It also investigates how discussions of the early styles of Beethoven and Mozart have been constructed in each of their biographical traditions. Through this process, the study aims at a clearer and more balanced understanding of young adults as both an object of musical representation and a subject of musical creation.
