초록
In a semantic approach, even is considered as a quantifier but in order to do so, we need the distinction between the truth-conditional part of the meaning and the non-truth-conditional part of the meaning conventionally implicated. In the present study, it is assumed that distinction between the meaning of even as an assertion and a conventional implicature, then the meaning of even is what should be distinguished as a trigger of quantificational implicature and a scalar implicature. The conclusion to be reached in this article will be that the quantificational approach to even also relates to the pragmatic inference.
Abstract
In a semantic approach, even is considered as a quantifier but in order to do so, we need the distinction between the truth-conditional part of the meaning and the non-truth-conditional part of the meaning conventionally implicated. In the present study, it is assumed that distinction between the meaning of even as an assertion and a conventional implicature, then the meaning of even is what should be distinguished as a trigger of quantificational implicature and a scalar implicature. The conclusion to be reached in this article will be that the quantificational approach to even also relates to the pragmatic inference.
