Abstract
This paper aims to research on the appearance of Government Offices(官府) of Gyeong-Ju in poems(題詠詩), which covers the background and context of the Old Government buildings in Gyoneg-Ju. Government offices in Gyeong-Ju(慶州 官府) means to refer to the buildings of Government offices located in the Gyeong-Ju Fortress (Historical Site No. 96). Since Gyeong-Ju Fortress was built up during three years’ governor of Hyeonjong King(顯宗) of the Korean Dynasty, many poets from Goryeo and Joseon would frequently sing about Gyeong-Ju Government Offices. However, there is no much works of art left until now. Most time-honored poems on Gyeong-Ju Government offices are Ilseungjeong(一勝亭), Jip Gyeongjeon(集慶殿), Binhyeonlu(賓賢樓), Uipunglu(倚風樓), which used to be the East Building Government Office. Moreover, many writers wrote the poems of Gyeong-Ju Government Offices were either Ministers of Gyeong-Ju Province or Government Officers visiting Gyeong-Ju. As Gyoeng-Ju is a-thousand-year-old ancient capital of Silla Period and well known for its many historical remains and truths, the poems on Gyeong-Ju Government Offices mainly covered the retrospects and warmth of Silla, and history of Government Buildings and Offices. Jip Gyeongjeon was an absolute act of worship, as it was an only palace and also the shrine of the First King(太祖) of the Joseon Dynasty. Accordingly, poems on Jip Gyeongjeon written by Jo Wi and Kim Siseup(金時習), and the funeral oration(祭文) of Jip Gyeongjeon, which condoles the fires(火災) of Yi Hwang(李滉) describes the absolute worship and respect for Royal Family. Looking into the contents of the poems in detail, Ilseungjeong(一勝亭) is used to be a very important building for the Mayors to administer their offices, entertain their guests with banquets. Poems for Ilseungjeong by Yoo hanjun and Kim Maesun mostly covers the daily lives of the Mayors and the process of the banquets. Binhyeonlu(賓賢樓) is a pavilion, which used to locate in the East of Gyeong-Ju Guesthouse and has a signboard written by Prince Anpyong(安平大君). Binhyeon means to select the talented people, educate them the code of honor and manners, and have the soldiers practice their marital arts. Consequently, the poems of Binhyeonlu by Kim Gunsu, Lee Dalchung, Kim Siseup described these sentiments well. Uipunglu(倚風樓) is another pavilion, which located in the West of Guesthouse. The essay of Uipungnu(倚風樓詩序) poem written by Lee Gok and Reconstruction History of Uipunglu(倚風樓重建記) by Seo Geojeong(徐居正) are well-described poems for the history of Uipunglu. The poem on Uipunglu by Kang Hwabaek and Seo Geojeong described the retrospect and warmth for Silla Dynasty and a-thousand-year-old ancient city. The research on the poems of Government Offices in Gyeong-Ju will help to improve actively the traditional practices in Silla and GyeongJu Literature, which have mainly focused on Silla Cultures, and also to understand the Gyeong-Ju Literature focusing on singing about Gyeong-Ju as a background for Korean Dynasty and Joseon Dynasty.
