This paper aims at proving the validity of the suggestion of Choi(2008) through the survey by Choi(2017) on the ‘Sai-Siot’ regulation in Korean orthography. So far, the existing regulation on ‘Sai-Siot’ has been said to have various problems. However, it is necessary that the suggestion for the improvement be supported by concrete survey. For the survey, this study used a web-searching method suggested by Park(2012). In Choi(2008), the presentation of ‘Sai-Siot’ is not required when the former element of a compound is native and the latter is Sino-Korean. The survey proves that this suggestion is consistent with the Choi(2008) in that the accuracy is remarkably lower only when the former element of a compound is native and the latter is Sino-Korean. Therefore, the suggestion of Choi(2008) provides a valuable improvement on the ‘Sai-Siot’ regulation in Korean orthography.
