Abstract
This article examines the year and burial features of the excavated relics of the Mungyeong Sinhyeon-ri Ancient Tombs, and examines the characteristics of the Sinhyeon-ri Ancient Tombs Group through the classification of tombs and excavated relics. The construction of the Mungyeong Sinhyeon-ri Ancient Tombs is divided into three stages among the earthenware excavated from the ancient tomb through a model that can be compiled by changing the properties of the form, and was contrasted from the late 5th century to the mid-to-late 6th century. The ancient tombs can be divided into three regions based on the structure of the ancient tomb and the excavated relics. The group that built the ancient tomb is thought to have some differences, such as intellectual, Silla-like, and Gaya-like characteristics. Additionally, it can be seen that the group that contrasted the Mungyeong Sinhyeon-ri Ancient Tombs through relics believed to be Sueki-based earthenware actively utilized the water systems such as the Nakdonggang River and Yeonggang River due to their crucial transportation location connecting the Namhangang River. In other words, it is believed that the distinctive structure, graveyard classification, and burial pattern of the Shinhyeon-ri Ancient Tombs in Mungyeong are due to the fact that the Cho Young group served as an important bridgehead for the advancement of the Namhan River in Silla and accepted various cultures as the border area of the Three Kingdoms. Additionally, the group that built the ancient tomb appears to have been created by the ruling group that built and operated the Gomosanseong Fortress, which played an important role in the Shilla Seokchuksanseong Fortress system in the late 5th century, based on the timing and layout of the ancient tomb.
