초록

This paper investigates the current annotation practices of verb-based quotative constructions in Korean morphologically and syntactically annotated corpora, and proposes alternative annotation strategies for more consistent analysis. In morphological annotation, quotative makers such as (i)lako, ko, (i)la, and hako should be consistently analyzed as adverbial case particles for quotation (JKBQ). For indirect quotations, the forms -tako, -nyako, -lako, and -cako should be segmented into a sentence-final ending and the adverbial particle for quotation ko. With this approach, both direct and indirect quotations can be uniformly analyzed as nominal phrase equivalents combined with adverbial case particles for quotation. In syntactic corpora, adverbial case phrase for quotation should be treated as adverbials (AJT), similar to other obligatory adverbial elements.
