본 연구는 연령별 평균소득과 인구비중이 독립적이라는 가정하에서 변이제곱계 수(SCV)를 이용하여 연령별 인구구조의 변화가 소득분배에 미치는 영향을 추정 하였다. 1982∼2008년의 통계청 ‘가계조사’자료를 이용하여 SCV 추이를 보면 1982∼94년 기간에는 연령별 인구구조의 변화가 소득분배에 미친 영향은 0에 가 깝다. 반면 1994∼2008년 기간에는 인구구조와 소득분포의 변화가 소득분배에 미친 영향은 각각 14.9%와 85.1%로 추정되었다. 모의실험 결과, 인구구조의 변 화에 따라 SCV는 2018년의 경우 2008년 대비 7.5%, 2050년에는 27.5%가 증가 될 것으로 추정되었다.
Abstract
Under the assumption that the average income of an age group is independent of the population weight of that group, this study aims to estimate the effects of changes in population structure on income inequality using the squared coefficient of variation (SCV) with the Household Income and Expenditure Survey between 1982 and 2008. The SCV dropped significantly from 0.328 to 0.208 during 1982～1994 period. The sharp decrease in the SCV was mostly due to the change in income distribution. To the contrary, the changes of population structure and income distribution explain 14.9% and 85.1% of SCV changes respectively, during 1994～2008 period. A simulation result suggests that population aging will increase income inequality by 7.5% by 2018 and 27.5% by 2050, even without any further change in income distribution.
