본 연구는 인플레이션이 높았던 기간을 포함하는 1970년 대부터의 장기 임금시계열 자료를 활용하여 코로나19 이후 우려되었던 임금-물가 악순환 가능성을 구조적 벡터자기회귀 모형과 상태의존적 국소투영법을 이용해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 물가 인플레이션과 명목임금 인플레이션 수준이 모두 높았던1970년 대 자료 활용 여부에 따라 명목임금 인플레이션이 물가 인플레이션에 미치는 영향의 유의성 여부가 달라짐을 보였다. 또한 임금 인플레이션이 물가 인플레이션에 미치는 효과는 물가 인플레이션 수준이 높을 때 더 커지는 상태의존적인 현상임을 보였다.
Abstract
This paper empirically analyzes the potential wage-price spiral concern after the COVID-19 period, using novel long-term wage time-series data including periods of high inflation. Results from the structural vector autoregression model and state-dependent local projection show that the significance of the impact of nominal wage inflation on price inflation varies depending on the inclusion of data from the high inflation period of the 1970s. I also show that the effect of wage inflation on price inflation is state-dependent, with a stronger impact when the level of price inflation is higher.
