재가정신장애인의 지역사회통합에 영향을 미치는 요인

초록

본 연구는 재가정신장애인의 지역사회통합에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지 파악하고자 서울시 N구의 정신건강증진센터에 등록되어 있는 대상자 144명을 대상으로 결과를 분석하였다. 본 연구에 투입된 변수는 개인적 특성 변수와 지역사회통합의 하위 5개영역인 ʻ스스로 참여하기ʼ, ʻ지역사회자원에 접근하기ʼ, ʻ친구에 대한 접근과 참여하기ʼ, ʻ지역사회단체를 통한 사회통합ʼ, ʻ지역사회시설의 이용ʼ과 일상생활기술 그리고 사회적 지지의 하위 3개 영역인 ʻ가족지지ʼ, ʻ친구지지ʼ, ʻ중요한 타인지지ʼ 그리고 사회적 낙인이었다. 연구결과, 일상생활기술이 재가정신장애인의 지역사회통합에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 예측변수로 나타났다. 또한 개인적 특성변수인 연령과 친구지지가 지역사회통합에 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 일상생활기술은 ʻ지역사회자원에 접근하기ʼ와 ʻ지역사회단체를 통한 사회통합ʼ, ʻ지역사회시설의 이용ʼ의 하위영역에서, 그리고 친구지지는 ʻ스스로 참여하기ʼ를 제외한 나머지 4개 하위영역 모두에서 지역사회통합에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 재가정신장애인의 지역사회통합을 위한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study conducted analysis of data collected from 144 subjects who were registered at the mental health center in N District of Seoul in order to identify factors affecting community integration of the persons with mental illness at home. Variables employed in this study consisted of individual specific variables and five sub-factors of community integration such as ‘own participation’, ‘access to the community’s resources’, ‘access to friends and participation’, ‘community integration through the community’s organizations’ and ‘use of the community facilities’; daily living skill and three sub-factors of social support such as ‘family support, ‘friends’ support’, ‘support of important others’ as well as perceived social stigma. This study found daily living skill as the most important predictor affecting community integration of the persons with mental illness at home. Also age and friends’ support, out of individual specific variables, affected community integration. On the other hand, the study found that daily living skill affected community integration in the sub-factors of ‘access to the community’s resources’, ‘community integration through the community’s organizations’, ‘use of the community facilities’, while friends’ support affected community integration in all other four sub-factors except ‘own participation’. Based on this findings, the study suggested practical implications for community integration of the persons with mental illness at home.
