초록

Given the sensitivity and volatility to the economic environment, it is imperative for restaurant firms to manage their operations in an efficient and innovative way. This paper aims to identify the financial outcomes of restaurant firms' strategic disconformity. Specifically, this study investigates (1) the impact of strategic disconformity on restaurant firms' performance and (2) how top executives moderate this main relationship. Using the sample of U.S. publicly-traded restaurant firms, this study employed the generalized estimating equation (GEE) to examine the suggested hypotheses. The findings of this study indicate that strategic disconformity of restaurant firms positively affects their financial performance. Furthermore, restaurant firms with output-oriented executives have better financial performance when they conduct the strategic disconformity. This study contributes to the restaurant literature by incorporating the important aspects of the strategic disconformity and upper echelons theory in understanding firms’ performance
