신해혁명(辛亥革命) 이전 채원배(蔡元培)의 여성교육 연구

중국이 청일전쟁의 패배와 유신변법 및 의화단운동의 실패 등으로 내우외환의 위기에 빠져있던 상황에서 채원배는 관료의 삶을 청산하고 교육과 혁명의 길로 뛰어들었다. 그는 애국여학을 비롯 중국교육회와 애국학사 등을 조직하여 혁명 교육을 실시하였고, 언론을 통한 혁명정신의 선진, 혁명단체 가입 등 혁명에 필요한 모든 가능한 수단을 이용하였다. 특히 애국여학에서는 암살 등을 통해 반혁명세력에 직접적인 타격을 가할 수 있는 혁명인재를 양성하고자 하였는데, 이는 청조 타도와 함께 여성해방을 신속하게 효과적으로 이루려는 의도에서 비롯된 것이다. 채원배의 혁명 참가는 참다운 전인 교육을 펼치기 위한 토대 마련의 과정이다. 그러므로 그가 신해혁명 전 독일유학을 떠난 것은 혁명으로부터의 도피가 아니라, 교육을 정치적 혁명에 이용하는 차원을 넘어서 ‘완전한 사람(完全)’을 육성하기 위한 교육 이론을 탐구하기 위함이었다.
Abstract
Due to the failure of the Sino-Japanese War, the Reform Movement of 1898, and the Boxer Rebellion, the internal and external problems of China were more serious, therefore Tsai Yuan-Pei, a government official who had a strong sense of hardship for his nation threw himself into the torrent of the revolution through the educational works such as the establishment of the Patriotism Female School, the Patriotism Boys School, and China Education Association. Besides, he also propagated the sprit of revolution, and organized some revolutionary groups. Especially, in the Patriotism Female School he tried to cultivate revolutionary women who can handle the assassination task, in order to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and to reach the goal of women's liberation in a short time. On the other hand, we can say that Tsai Yuan-Pei's revolutionary activities were the processes of forming the foundation on which he could develop his whole-person education.
