확장된 도시 읽기-벤야민의 도시 인상학을 중심으로

2020년 코로나 팬데믹 이후, 일상공간에 큰 변화가 생겼다. 매체공간이 주요 공적공간으로 등장하고, 도시공간에서는 ‘사회적 거리두기’라는 새로운 삶의 방식이 요청되었다. 현전과 대면 대신 원격현전과 비대면이 전면에 등장했다. 그 결과 도시공간은 매체공간과의 결합으로 인해 확장된 도시가 되었다. 현대 대도시들은 모두 이러한 확장된 도시다. 따라서 이 글에서는 매체공간과의 결합을 통해 도시공간이 어떻게 확장되었는지를 살펴보고, 이를 분석하고자 한다. 특히 벤야민의 도시인상학을중심으로 지금의 확장된 도시를 분석하고자 한다. 대도시에 대한 벤야민의 사유 그리고 그의 방법론은 확장된 도시를 분석할 때도 여전히 유효하다. 그는 다양한 방식으로 도시를 분석했다. 다공성도 그러한 분석 중 하나다. 벤야민은 나폴리를 분석할때, 다공적이라고 분석했다. 다공적 도시란, 고정된 장소와 그 장소에서 요구되는특정한 행위가 없는 것을 의미한다. 이런 다공적 도시에서는 공간적 변화가 자유롭고 용이하다. 기능에 따라 도시의 여러 장소들이 쉽게 변화할 수 있다. 확장된 도시또한 매우 다공적이다. 따라서 이 글에서는 벤야민의 다공성 개념을 중심으로 그의도시 인상학을 분석한 후, 이를 확장된 도시에 적용을 시도할 것이다.
Abstract
Since the 2020 Corona Pandemic, there has been a big change in daily space. Media space appeared as a major public space, and a new way of life called 'social distancing' was requested in urban space. Instead of presence and face-to-face, telepresence and non-face-to-face appeared in the front. As a result, urban space has become an expanded city due to the combination with media space. All of the current metropolises are these expanded cities. Therefore, in this paper, I will examine how urban space has been expanded through combination with media space and analyze it. In particular, this study intends to analyze the now expanded city centering on Benjamin's urban physiognomy. Benjamin's thought on the metropolis and his methodology are still valid when analyzing the expanded city. He analyzed the city in various ways. Porosity is one of those analyses. Benjamin analyzed Naples as porous. A porous city means that there is no fixed place and no specific action required at that place. In such a porous city, spatial change is free and easy. Depending on the function, various places in the city can easily change. The expanded city is also very porous. Therefore, in this paper, after analyzing Benjamin's urban physiognomy focusing on the concept of porosity, I will try to apply it to the expanded city.
