중학생 학습자를 위한 디지털 리터러시 인지적 영역 성취기준 개발

최근 들어 디지털 리터러시의 교육적 필요성에 대한 논의가 활발해지고 있으나, 교육 실행을 위한 구체적인 교육 방안에 대해서는 논의가 진전되지 못하고 있다. 그 중요한 원인이 구체적인 교육 내용을 마련하지 못한 때문이라는 판단에 따라 이 연구에서는 중학생들을 대상으로 하여 디지털 리터러시 이해 영역의 성취기준을 제안함으로써 교육 내용 구체화에 기여하고자 하였다. 실증적인 증거로부터 교육 내용을 찾기 위해 중학교 2학년 학생 12명에게 디지털 리터러시가 필요한 과제 상황을 제시하고 이들의 실제 과제 수행 양상을 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 토대로 하여 이해 영역을 중심으로 중학생 학습자들을 위한 교육 내용의 범주와 수준을 설정하였다. 디지털 리터러시 이해 영역은 정보 탐색, 해석과 통합, 평가의 3개의 범주로 구분되었으며, 각 범주 하에 각각 3∼4개씩의 하위 범주가 설정되었다. 각 하위 범주별로 중학생 학습자들의 이해 활동 양상을 종합하고 활동 수준에 영향을 미치는 단서들을 탐색하여 이를 토대로 중학생 학습자에게 맞는 성취기준을 제시하였다. 이 연구를 통해 제안한 성취기준들이 향후 교육과정 개발 과정에서 적극적으로 검토될 수 있기를 희망하며, 후속 연구를 통해 초등학교와 고등학교 단계의 교육 내용도 체계적으로 마련될 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
While the educational need for digital literacy has increased lately, little progress has been shown in the plan for digital literacy education at school. Recognizing that this lack of instruction is likely attributable to little discussion on the contents of digital literacy, this study aimed to provide the achievement standards for one domain of digital literacy at middle school level. To provide evidence-based data, this study implemented a case study with 12 middle school students and analyzed their literacy practices on the computer. As a result, this study has determined three sub-domains of understanding: 1) locating information; 2) interpretation and integration; and 3) evaluation. The study also proposed 3 to 4 components of each sub-domain. Finally, achievement standards of digital literacy for middle school students are proposed at each sub-domain level. The achievement standards suggested in the study can be used to determine course content on digital literacy for the next curriculum development. Also, follow-up research is expected to explore the level and scope for digital literacy achievement at the elementary and high school levels.
