본고는 호남과 강우(江右) 지역에 산재한 노사학파(蘆沙學派) 문인들이 결집하여 열린 대표적인 강회인 ‘종산강회(鍾山講會)’에 관한 전반적인 내용을 검토한 것이다. 기정진(奇正鎭, 1798~1879)의 학문, 즉 노사학(蘆沙學)에 대한 계승 의식이강했던 노사학파 문인들은 기정진 사후에 문인 배출을 위한 강학 활동을 본격화하는 한편, 직전 제자를 중심으로 노사학에 대한 체계적인 이해와 계승을 위한 강회를 지속해서 개최하였다. 호남 및 강우 지역의 주요 강학처에서 수시로 열린 강회가 각 지역 문인들의 결집과 학문적 일체성을 도모한 것이었다면, ‘종산강회’는 양 지역의 주요 문인을 망라하여 학파적 결집과 노사학에 대한 구체적인 이해를 도모한 처음이자 마지막 대규모 강회였다. 특히 강회의 강론 내용을 ｢종산강록(鍾山講錄)｣으로 정리하여 학파 문인 전체가 공유하였다는 점에서 종산강회는 기정진 사후에 문인들의 노사학에 대한 이해의 면모를 확인할 수 있는 주목할 만한 강회라 할 수 있다. 종산강회의 이러한 의미에 주목하여 본고에서는 먼저 종산강회의 개최 배경 및경과와 함께 강록 관련 자료에 관한 내용을 전반적으로 정리 검토하였다. 그리고이를 바탕으로 강론에서 검토된 주요 주제와 내용을 정리하여 기정진의 학문에 대한 문인들의 이해 방향과 내용 등을 확인하고자 하였다. 아울러 종산강회 이후 펼쳐진 노사학파 내부의 주요 강회를 종산강회와 연관하여 검토하여 종산강회의 의의와 영향을 확인하고자 하였다.
Abstract
In this paper, I have examined the overall content of the ‘Jongsan Lectures (鍾山講會)’, a representative lecture held by the scholars of the Nosa School (蘆沙學派) scattered across the Honam and Gangwoo regions. The scholars of the Nosa School had a strong sense of succession to ‘NoSa-hak (蘆沙學, NoSa-learning)’, and based on this, they began full-scale lecture activities to produce scholars after the death of Ki Jeong-jin (奇正鎭), while continuously holding lectures to systematically understand and succeed Nosa’s learning centered on their immediate disciples. If the lectures held frequently in the major lecture halls in the Honam and Gangwoo regions were intended to unite and academically unite the literati of each region, the ‘Jongsan Lectures’ were the first and last large-scale lectures that included the major literati of both regions to unite the school and promote a concrete understanding of NoSa-hak. In particular, the lectures were compiled into ‘Jongsan Lecture Records(鍾山講錄)’ and shared by all literati of the school, so it can be said to be a noteworthy lecture in that it allows us to confirm the literati’s understanding of NoSa-hak after Ki Jeong-jin’s death. With this meaning in mind, I comprehensively reviewed the background and progress of the Jongsan Lectures and the contents of the lectures in this paper. Based on this, I organized the main topics and contents reviewed in the lectures to confirm the direction and contents of the scholars’ understanding of Ki Jeongjin’s studies. In addition, I reviewed the major lectures held within the Nosa School after the Jongsan Lectures in relation to the Jongsan Lectures to confirm the significance and influence of the Jongsan Lectures.
