Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effects of Glutamte (Glu) treatment under drought stress, which can be a serious problem in growth, during the field cultivation of Kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala), 5㎛ Glu solution was applied to the leaves of kale which exposed to dry conditions (D + Glu). The growth and chlorophyll contents were measured at the 0, 4 and 8days after Glu treatment (0, 4, 8DAT) and analyzed the contents of ABA, Glu, and Proline (Pro) in the plant bodies to compare the well-watered, dry condition and dry condition with Glu treatments. In the case of chlorophyll content, D+Glu treatments remained constant at the 8DAT, while the only D treatments decreased by 14%. The leaf area as the growth indicator was also shown to be higher in D+Glu treatments than in D t reatments. In a ddition, ABA c ontents o f D treatments at t he 4DAT, 8DAT w ere 44.13, 4 9.18% higher than D +Glu t reatments. The contents of Glu and Pro as the amino acid metabolism and drought resistance indicators remained higher in D+Glu treatments. The current study indicated that drought stress can be reduced and growth can be recovered by Glu treatments.
