Abstract
Food waste compost mixed with manure (FWC) is well known for its efficiency to enhance crop growth and soil quality. However, excessive use of FWC can negatively impact on crop growth and soil environment. We conducted to investigation of the effect of differentapplication ratios of food waste compost mixed with manure (FWC) on the growth and yield of red pepper under upland. The experimentfield was divided into no fertilization (NF), inorganic fertilization (NPK50%, NPK100%), and FWC 1, 2, and 3 times fertilization combinedwith NPK 50% (NPKFWC1, NPKFWC2, NPKFWC3). As a result of the soil chemical properties, the content of organic matter, available P2O5, and exchangeable cations increased as the application ratio of FWC. The crop height was not different from NPKFWC3 comparedwith control (NPK100%) until the second year. Yield increased in fresh weight and dry weight for in NPKFWC2, but decreased NPKFWC3. The fruit number was highest in NPKFWC1 and also decreased when the application ratio was increased. Our study suggest that NPKFWC1(1,309 kg 10a-1) is recommended application amount for improved growth red pepper and upland soil environment.
