Abstract
This study was conducted to survey the basic conditions for the mass production of secondary metabolites from the industrially promisingplant, Styphnolobium japonicum (L.) Schott. Hypocotyl were cultured on media containing NAA 2.0 mg·L-1 + TDZ 0.1 mg·L-1 a milkywhite soft callus was formed, resulting in the most effective with a callus induction rate of 100±0.0%, a duration of 7.1±0.03 daysfor callus formation, and a callus weight of 249.8±12.73 mg. Callus from hypocotyl was formed a large amount of light yellow hardon media containing IBA 1.0 mg·L-1 + TDZ 0.1 mg·L-1 under fluorescent light conditions, and resulting in the most effective witha highest fresh weight of callus (186±5.4 mg) and exellent size of callus (40.6±1.6 mm2). The yield of callus extract was investigated59% (50% ethanol extraction), 55% (water extraction). It was confirmed that the maackiain was detected 1.68 mg·g-1 in callus extract. The results of this study can be used as basic data for in vitro mass propagation and enhancing for secondary metabolite productionof Styphnolobium japonicum (L.) Schott for expected for species for industrial applications.
