초록

본 연구의 목적은 지구과학 예비 교사들이 지구 환경의 구조를 어떻게 인식하며 환경에 대해 어떻게 개념화하고 있는지 밝히는 것이다. 국립사범대 지구과학교육학과에 재학 중인 예비 지구과학 교사 41명을 대상으로 개념 그리기 방법을 적용하여 지구 환경의 구조를 시각화하고, 자신이 표현한 환경에 대해 서술하도록 하였다. 예비 교사들은 지구 환경을 인간의 주거와 생활을 지원해주는 수단으로 인식하고 있으며, 다수의 예비 교사들이 환경의 개념을 나를 둘러싸고 있는 모든 것으로 서술하고 있음에도 불구하고 개념 그리기 활동을 통해 표현한 지구 환경에 대한 시각은 여전히 동물과 식물이 생존하는 자연 공간으로 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있다.

Abstract

The Perceptions about the Global Environment of Earth Science Pre-service Teachers The objective of this study is to clarify how earth science preservice teachers recognize the structure of the global environment and how they conceptualize the environment. Using the concept sketch method, 41 preservice teachers majoring in earth science education at colleges of education in national universities participated in the survey and were asked to visualize the structure of earth science and describe the environment they portrayed. The preservice teachers recognized the earth environment as a means of supporting human life, and most of the respondents described the concept of the environment as everything surrounding them. Nevertheless, their views of the global environment, expressed in their concept sketch activities, showed they still perceived the earth environment as a space of nature where plants and animals exist.
