관찰추천에 의한 초등과학영재교육 대상자 선발에서 나타난 문제점 : 교사 추천서 분석을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 2011년 시행된 대학 부설 초등과학영재의 관찰 추천 전형 사례를 통해 영재선발 과정에의 교사추천이 반영되었을 때의 문제점을 분석하였다. 영재교육원의 관찰전형 선발에서 발생한 문제점으로는 첫째, 학생의 영재성을 제시하고 있지 않거나 영재성을 판단할 수 없는 피상적 사례 제시로 인한 서술적 평가 자료의 신뢰도 결여이다. 둘째, 학급담임과 영재학급 등의 영재교육기관의 추천정도 및 추천유형의 불일치로 인한 현장교사들의 추천 자료의 객관성 결여이다. 셋째, 영재 행동 체크리스트는 지속적인 관찰에 의한 자료라기보다는 학생들이 지닌 특성을 파악하기가 어려울 정도로 형식적인 자료가 많아 서술적 평가의 신뢰도를 높여줄만한 객관적 자료로서의 활용성이 떨어졌다. 넷째, 서류 확인을 위한 면접에서의 평가와 교사 추천의 불일치로 생성되는 문제점이다. 이러한 결과로부터 대학 부설기관의 관찰전형을 통한 영재선발에 있어 추후 이러한 문제점을 해결할만한 방안 및 연구가 필요하다고 사료된다.
Abstract
This study investigated the selection process of gifted students based on the letters of recommendation by observer teachers for the Institute of Education for the Gifted attached to the university in 2011. Problems observed in the process of class observation and nomination for the Institute are summarized as follows: 1) Problems of descriptive evaluation: Deficiency in confidence of data presented as examples, which either did not show features of the gifted or presented superficial examples that can not differentiate the features of the gifted. 2) Deficiency in objectivity of recommendation data by field teachers due to discrepancies in degrees and patterns of recommendation and evaluations by the gifted class teachers and homeroom teachers. 3) Difficulties with applying checklist data of the behavior as the gifted to the evaluation as reliable and objective data. The data was too formal rather than data from the consistent observation which made it difficult to characterize the students. 4) Discrepancies between the evaluations of screening interviews and recommendations by teachers which was observed during the selection process. Further study is desirable to resolve those problems and improve the selection process.
